Lino Printing

In our print and dye session, we learnt how to create Lino prints and how they can be made into a repeat pattern. We were tasked to take inspiration from our current Narnia project and create a Lino print that could potentially be used as a design on our final piece. I enjoy Lino print and after working with it previously I found this session interesting. However, I did find it hard choosing a pattern that fitted my theme and overall wasn’t very happy with how my pieces turn out. Next time, I would look for more inspiration using Pinterest create mini sketches before hand.

Acetate and Mono-printing

Today, we did mono-printing on acetate which I found interesting. I loved the effects painting on acetate and then mono-printing over the top. I also see me doing this for future projects.

Shibori

In this session, we learnt about different Shibori techniques and how folding it in different ways creates different looks. I look forward to seeing the results of these pieces.

Sublimation Printing

Today, we experimented using sublimation ink on fabrics.  To do this process, you first use sublimation paint on paper and then once it’s dried you place it (design down) onto fabric and then iron on top to set it. I’ve used this process before with print out sublimation images which I really enjoyed. However, I didn’t like this technique as I struggled to decide what to paint on the fabric.
